“Meet Us In Chinatown” Event Hosted by ABNY in partnership with Abacus Bank and other Chinatown Community-based Organizations!
To celebrate Chinatown’s history, help combat anti-Asian sentiments, and encourage a robust economic comeback, the Association for a Better New York (ABNY) , Abacus Federal Savings Bank, Think!Chinatown, Welcome to Chinatown and the Chinatown Core Block Association hosted a FREE event in Manhattan's Chinatown that includes a cultural walking tour, complimentary food from participating restaurants, a scavenger hunt, live music and demonstrations on Thursday, June 17, 2021 starting at Kimlau Square, Park Row, New York, NY 10038.
Free activities include a sampling of Asian cuisine, desserts, and tea on planned restaurant crawls; a scavenger hunt with prizes; the ability to experience the history, architecture, and culture of Chinatown through an audio or walking tour; experience the Chinatown murals, Tai Chi classes; and live music. Those who have participated and spent more than $50 at any Chinatown vendors also received a gift bag from ABNY.

“Chinese Workers and the Railroad” photo exhibition at Abacus Bank!
Abacus Director Vera Sung and President/CEO Jill Sung are honored to announce that: the Chinese American Heritage Foundation has granted Abacus Bank the permission to show their United States Transcontinental Railroad Photo Exhibit : “Chinese Workers and the Railroad”! This special exhibit is comprised of 60 pictures which were completed based on the study of “Chinese Railroad Workers in North American Project” at Stanford University. The descriptions are in both Chinese and English. This exhibit explaining how the U.S. Transcontinental Railroad was built and the Chinese-American’s critical contributions to this achievement. Abacus had successfully held a financial seminar in NYC Sang Kiang Charitable Association
After weeks of deploying the Banking Seminar/Education with San Kiang Charitable Association, Wu Foundation , Fu Generation Foundation and AICPA member Tien Wang, CPA, the first seminar in this year of Abacus Bank was successfully held on 1/25 at Chinatown San Kiang Association. In the seminar session, Abacus team, Mendy Huang, Terry Cheung, Boya Li and William Hwang had addressed our Chinese New Year Promotions, including business and personal accounts, wire transfer, and loan programs such as foreign national loan and etc. Other topics the attendees showed very much interested are 2017 new tax regulations that were addressed by CPA Wang. The audience and reporters asked and discussed scores of issues; Abacus team members and CPA Mr. Wang explained and provided answers. The presidents of associations and speakers in the session all praised Abacus Bank has been doing a lot of contributions to help the community, new immigrants and businesses in lending and banking services.
Sing Tao Newspaper and World Journal had covered this event with community page headline and important messages with picture; Sinovision TV also interviewed San Kiang Association president Kai Wu and William Hwang, the V.P of Abacus bank, and aired the seminar education and interview on 1/25 evening news.

Vance, Jr., unjust charges of mortgage fraud. This is a story about staying true to our community and fighting for what is right. Screenings have been at the Toronto International Film Festival, New York Film Festival, Washington, DC at Double Exposure: Investigative Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival and Philadelphia Film Festival.
